Stellenbosch Bowhunters and Field Archers (SBFA) was formed in 2004 when JP de Villiers,
moved down to the Cape from Gauteng.
JP founded the club and found a “perfect”
venue to set up the field range. Nestled in the
heart of the Stellenbosch Winelands, just outside
Stellenbosch, off the R44 towards Somerset-West.
The Stellenbosh field archers gather at least twice a month to enjoy their sport and nature's beauty. The field range consists of a practice range, with butts placed from 20 yards up to 80 yards, and 14 butts set in a standard IFAA field course. On competition days archers shoot the range in two sessions of 14 butts each. At first glance the range may look easy, but don't be fooled, as it has its tricky shots, as many experienced archers had to find out the hard way.
